A Light Tangy & Spicy Veg Soup

Serves - 2

Ingredients

4 large tomatoes

a small bunch of corriander leaves

2 - 3 garlic cloves

a few cumin seeds

1 tsp asefoetida (hing) powder

1 tbsp oil

salt to taste

2 -3 dry red chillies

1/2 tbsp tamarind paste

a powder made of cumin seeds, black pepper corns & curry leaves (fresh leaves) - this can be stored

a pinch of turmeric powder

Method

  1. Chop the corriander leaves finely and crush with the garlic cloves. keep aside
  2. Blanch the tomatoes in water
  3. Remove skin and blend in the mixer
  4. To this add the tamarind paste diluted, two tsps of the prepared powder, a pinch of turmeric powder. mix and keep aside
  5. In a pan heat the oil and add the cumin seeds and asefoetida powder.
  6. Add the corriander & garlic crush. Allow to fry for about aminute. Do not let it burn
  7. Add about 500 ml of water to the tomato mix and mix well.
  8. Pour this into the pan over the corriander and mix well.
  9. Let this boil for a few minutes.
  10. Remove from flame and add salt as per taste.

You can have this with hot steamed rice or just as soup!
